Who We Are

ART06870
focuses on contemporary art across an array of disciplines with a mission to showcase exceptional artists creating introspective, unique work. The gallery brings together artists, collectors, and benefactors with exhibitions, events, and collaborations to create an expansive vibrant community built on the belief that art is more than a commodity and is vital to the way it makes us feel and the message it conveys about us and our community.

ART06870’s new permanent location at 260R Sound Beach Ave. in Old Greenwich, CT features bi-monthly exhibitions and events in conjunction with the Project Space at the working studio for Michael Manning and Ben Quesnel and headquarters for the Developing Artist Program along with photographer/architectural designer Christian Salvati. ART06870 can trace its roots to exhibitions and events in the early 2000s with Arts Industria, later forming into Pablo's Birthday with the backing of Kastner partners and Red Bull at 84 Franklin Street, New York, NY. The gallery’s first public events included Hamptons Fine Arts Fair, the Project Space for the Developing Artist Program, and exhibitions with select artists at ABNY Gallery in East Hampton. The gallery has a tremendous level of support and works with outstanding artists who have connections to a number of highly visible organizations, such as NXTHVN, ArtPort Kingston, Wassaic Project, and The Crit Lab.

The Project Space and ART06870 gallery currently exhibit a number of artists who have been part of the Developing Artist Program. The Project Space is seen as an incubator for ideas, installations, and collaborative projects, giving artists an opportunity to share new ideas, concepts, and work. The Space is an extension of the Developing Artist program made possible with a grant from the Greenwich Alliance for Education. Additional funding for the Developing Artist Program has come from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, CT Office of the Arts (COA), and the National Endowment for the Arts. The program, led by Michael Manning and Ben Quesnel, was first piloted at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich. The goal of the program is to give students a broader understanding of what it means to be an artist and to expose young artists to the possibilities of pursuing a career in this field. We do this by bringing a diverse group of professional studio artists into the schools to share their work, practices, and experiences with the students. We also make trips to visit artists’ studios, galleries, museums, and organizations that support and develop the careers of professional artists.

The exhibitions demonstrate the power of art to connect people and foster meaningful dialogue, supporting our mission to create an expansive, vibrant community built on the belief that art is more than a commodity; it is vital to the way it makes us feel and the message it conveys about us.

At the gallery, we are not only celebrating art but also continuing our commitment to community building. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of children through art, using it as a vehicle for change. By attending, you are not only supporting the artists but also helping to lay the groundwork for future exhibitions and events that will focus on community engagement through art, with the potential to transform the lives of children in our area.
